They operate under the management of the responsible Team Leader.\n\nIn this context, the policy advisor is primarily responsible for advising the Greens/EFA MEPs on policy issues related to the foreign affairs committee (AFET), in particular:\n\n### Tasks to be performed:\n\n- for relations with Western Balkan countries, enlargement policy, CFSP, foreign information manipulation and interference, as well as relations with Southeast Asian countries, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and Southern Africa\n- Preparing MEPs for committee and coordinators meetings, including drafting reports, briefings, resolutions, amendments and voting lists\n- Attending committee meetings, assuring close contact to Parliament’s AFET secretariat\n- Taking part in the work of the Group and monitoring international developments in relation to the geographic area of responsibility\n- Participating in the Greens/EFA Steering Group International and WG AFET\n- Coordinating the work of the AFET team, including preparing the WG AFET meetings\n- Negotiating and discussing on behalf of the Greens/EFA Group with stakeholders, relevant NGOs and representatives of other political groups in the Parliament\n- Advising Group Members about the work in relevant geographic delegations and joint parliamentary assemblies\n- Preparing and participating in missions to Strasbourg (monthly plenary session) and missions abroad, in particular in the countries from the relevant geographic areas of responsibility\n\n## B/ Profile\n\nTo fill this key position within the Greens/EFA Group Secretariat, we are looking for an excellent team player who is open-minded, proactive, and comfortable working in a multicultural environment, and who is sympathetic to the values of the Greens/EFA Group.\n\nCandidates need to demonstrate:\n\n- Very good knowledge of the European institutions, EU legislation and decision-making process\n- Educational background in line with the function\n- Familiarity with Green positions relevant for the work in the AFET committee, with a particular focus on relations with Western Balkans countries, enlargement policy and CFSP\n- Knowledge on foreign information manipulation and interference, as well as relations with Southeast Asian countries, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and Southern Africa considered to be an asset\n- Strong analytical and negotiation skills\n- Very good writing skills and knowledge of organisational methodology\n- Excellent standard of English and fluent in at least one other EU language\n- Knowledge of languages from the area of responsibilities considered to be an asset\n- Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a political administration and in a multi-cultural team\n- Be a good team-worker and ready to work flexible hours\n\nA minimum of 2 years of professional experience is required for this position.\n\nCandidates must also demonstrate an excellent command of English and of at least one other EU official language, as well as a good knowledge of standard office software.\n\nPrior experience within the Green family is considered an asset.\n\nIn accordance with Article 82(2)(3) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the European Union, candidates must:\n\n- Be a citizen of an EU Member State, unless an exception is authorised by the appointing authority referred to in Article 6(1);\n- Enjoy full rights as a citizen;\n- Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national laws concerning military service;\n- Meet the character requirements for the duties involved.\n\n## C/ Salary and other benefits\n\nThis is a fixed-term contract as a contractual agent, Function Group III, ideally from mid-October 2026 to mid-July 2027.\n\nThe indicative basic salaries grid is:\n\n**FG III 8 (≤ 5y of prof exp):** € 3 204.55\n\n**FG III 9 (≥ 5 and ≤ 10 years of prof exp):** € 3 625.74\n\n**FG III 10 (≥ 10 and ≤ 15 years of prof exp):** € 4 102.29\n\n**FG III 11 (≥ 15 and ≤ 20 years of prof exp):** € 4 641.52\n\n**FG III 12 (≥ 20 years of prof exp):** € 5 251.57  \nThe precise grade is determined by the services of the European Parliament on the basis of professional experience, supported by appropriate documentation.\n\nIn addition to the basic salary, various allowances may be granted depending on the candidate’s personal situation (household allowance, expatriation allowance, child allowance, etc.).
