5Rights Foundation is looking for an EU Affairs Intern

5Rights is seeking to recruit a n EU Affairs Intern, based in Belgi um, to support the development and delivery of 5Rights Foundation’s advocacy and policy objectives across the EU. The intern will contribute to research, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis, and advocacy activities that advance children’s rights in the digital environment. The role offers hands-on experience in EU policymaking and digital regulation while supporting efforts to influence legislation, regulation, and implementation affecting children and young people online.

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse developments in EU digital policy, online safety, privacy, artificial intelligence, platform regulation, and children’s rights.
• Track legislative and regulatory developments across EU institutions, including the European Commission, European Parliament, Council of the European Union, and Member States.
• Conduct research on EU policy initiatives, consultations, legislative proposals, delegated acts, and implementation measures.
• Prepare policy briefings, stakeholder summaries, background notes, and advocacy materials.
• Support the drafting of consultation responses, position papers, reports, speeches, and external communications.
• Update the EU stakeholder mapping and assist with engagement activities involving EU policymakers, regulators, civil society organisations, academics, and industry representatives.
• Support the organisation of the EU Affairs team, including through the organisation of interna l and external meetings, events, workshops, and roundtables in Brussels and across Europe.
• Maintain advocacy databases, contact lists, and project documentation.
• Contribute to coalition-building activities with European partners, and ensure the administrative work to support the EU Coalition.
• Provide administrative and project support to the EU Affairs team, notably through the organisation of shared documents database s.

Practical Details

We are offering a six-month remote CIP (professional immersion contract) based in Brussels, Belgium, with a starting date in September. This paid internship offers a stipend of a gross €1,500 per month. Candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours to accommodate different time zones. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in Belgium.
