European Anti-Poverty Network is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Assistant (Trainee)

6-month paid placement (CIP) – Based in Brussels

The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Assistant to join our team for a six-month paid placement under the Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP) scheme.

About the Role

The Policy and Advocacy Assistant will support:

  • The monitoring of EU and national policy developments relevant to poverty and social exclusion
  • The preparation of policy briefings, background notes and other analytical documents
  • EAPN’s internal policy expert group, the EU Inclusion Strategies Group (EUISG)
  • The organisation of policy meetings, workshops, webinars and events involving EAPN members and external partners
  • The meaningful participation of people experiencing poverty in EAPN’s policy and advocacy work

The role is based in Brussels and offers a chance to work closely with civil society organisations across Europe, gaining first-hand experience in EU policy-making, advocacy and social justice work.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a motivated, organised candidate with:

  • A recent degree in political science, public policy, European studies, social sciences, law, international relations, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in social policy, advocacy, human rights or anti-poverty work, gained through studies, volunteering, internships or student organisations
  • Strong research, analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesise information from multiple sources
  • A strong commitment to social justice, human rights and the fight against poverty

What We Offer

  • A CIP contract for 6 months under Belgian law based on 38 hours per week, over 5 days
  • Home working days
  • Meal vouchers (amount per day worked)
  • Reimbursement of STIB monthly subscription
  • The indemnity would be as follows: 1095,00 Euros / month
